Michael James Morris, age 66, of Edina passed away 1/5/2021. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Constance Strei and daughters Kathryn (Matthew) Lounsbury of Edina and Rachel Morris of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Morris (Cowette), brother Daniel Morris, sister Barbara Mazoko, and nephew Paul Mazoko.
He grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, and received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota - Duluth. He worked in market research, analyzing data in multiple industries throughout his career. He retired in May 2020 from nVent.
Mike and Connie loved to travel with family, however, their greatest adventure was as parents to two daughters. Connie will cherish Mike’s strength, sincerity, respect, dependability, and solid partnership. Katie will always treasure the memories of sitting on her dad’s lap as a child and drawing together, bike rides, board games, Dad jokes, and hours of conversation during long road trips and over dinner at home. Rachel will miss her supportive and welcoming father who showed kindness to everyone and taught her how to see humor in everyday life. They loved SNL references, silly jokes, bonding over their shared love of music, and trying fun new things like goat yoga.
Mike loved Grand Marais, MN and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, beginning with his work as a camp counselor in his 20’s and visiting yearly since. He collected antique postcards of old cars and sold many on eBay. He liked learning about history. He thoroughly enjoyed driving his Porsche Cayman, the dream car he purchased in 2018.
We remember and cherish Mike as our gentle, funny, and loving husband, father, and friend. We will miss him terribly but rejoice to know that he is now home with Jesus.
A Virtual Only Memorial Service will be held on January 16. Check the events page for details and the streaming link.

I remember when he got stopped outside of Milbank SD for speeding and sweet talked the officer into not giving him a spedding ticket. It was so funny with everyone in the car.

I remember Mike always would make me feel welcome when I stayed at their house, after a weekend taking care of my Father. He always had a smile and listened to me ramble on. A little dry humor which I enjoyed.

So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. My desk was near Mike’s when we worked at Xcel Energy. We had many late afternoon chats, (off the clock).
He was so proud of his girls and never ending love for them and for his wife, Connie.
Often we talked about our mutual love of travel, where we’d been and bucket list. He talked about moving to Italy in a retirement plan.
Mike’s kindness, humor and intelligence will be missed by many.
One story of Mike’s generosity and helpfulness....
My daughter was enrolled at an University in London England, working on her Master’s degree. She was running into trouble with the statistical reporting, for her thesis paper. I asked Mike for help on her behalf. After several emails and phone calls he was able to help her pull together her surveyed data, make it reportable to support her findings. He loved encouraging and supporting education, a born teacher!
My condolences and sympathy to Connie,Katie and Rachel. May you find peace as you look back on the memories and the wonderful times you shared. Peace

My cousin Mike was a great guy. I always thought of him as a kind, quiet, and gentle sort. I am so sorry for Connie, Katie and Rachel that your husband and father has left. There is comfort in knowing that he has joined Barbara and Danny, and their parents in a better place. Peace be with you.

Mike was an amazing guy! I loved his sense of humor and we had great times at the University of Minnesota. He was someone you could always feel comfortable with and never turned down going out for coffee eve when we didn’t have any money to actually go out. We called him FUZZ ROW because he tried to grow mustache but it looked like fuzz. Good to know that he’s in the presence of Jesus and not suffering any more

Mike had such a witty and dry sense of humor, you would be chatting and he would throw some comment in that would cause me to pause, and look up from my storytelling and he would be quietly grinning. Jim and Brian loved this, they would come back with their own quip and often the banter would continue from there. I will miss that, Mike was always listening and observing and welcoming you into his fold, in his own quiet and witty way. You will be missed Mike!!

Hey Connie, Mike was truly a delightful and intelligent buddy of mine. It was great to remain friends after our work paths changed directions. He never spoke poorly of his bride and showed he loved, respected and cherished you always. He was so proud of Katie and Rachel. It was a total joy to drive the Porsche with him, and share my manual jetta with Mike and Matt. Top golf and taco lunch was a memory I have not forgotten. And his love for Christ and wanting to stay in the narrow path was quite evident. To Katie and Rachel you already know how special your dad was. May you never forget those family memories. Keep his memories and joy always. Be so blessed he is in his eternal home with our Lord and Heavenly Father. Peace be with you all

I will so miss Mike—I thought a day would make this easier, but it doesn’t. Mike was so funny and kind. We shared our appreciation for the MN north country, SNL’s Alexa skit, the same employer (at one time) , good Chicago pizza, and family. I’m glad I could enjoy a glimpse of your daily enjoyment within the photos shared. Your memory lives on in your beautiful family. My God bless, and keep you in the palm of His hand.

What I will always remember most about Mike was his DRY, no arid, sense of humor. I recall a Strei family get together where the adult Strei children were taking a photo and Mike remarked that the inlaws were really outlaws, so we took a photo of the outlaws.
